Wristbands

Please use the correct pronouns when approaching someone and ask if you are unsure. We have included separate colours on wristbands to make it easy to follow and ensure everyone is respected.

Etiquette Guide

Socials

Our themed socials are aimed at groups with common interests or identities. Though primarily aimed at the stated community, allies are welcome at these socials with the understanding that they are in another's safe space. Intolerance, racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, disrespect, harassment, and disruption will result in you being asked to leave the space, and your wristband may be revoked.

Workshops

Please speak respectfully and avoid talking over others. Engage thoughtfully by asking questions in a considerate manner and approaching discussions from a place of curiosity and learning. Remember, this is an educational environment—not a space to pleasure yourself or others. Misusing the space may result in being asked to leave. Above all, show respect for our panellists, workshop leaders, and fellow participants.

Performances & Installations

When attending an installation or performance, please refrain from touching or interacting with the professionals unless they initiate the engagement. Photography or videography is only permitted if you have received prior authorisation. Show respect to the professionals at all times—this means no shaming, offensive language, or the use of phobic or racial slurs. Violating these guidelines may result in being asked to leave, and your wristband could be voided.

Events at Queer Lit

This venue welcomes fetish and activewear; however, nudity and any form of sexual conduct are strictly prohibited. As a space we value and support—one that also stocks and sells children’s literature—it’s important that we adhere to these guidelines to ensure we can continue collaborating here in the future.

Dress codes

The expected dress code is indicated on event listings where appropriate. Accepted fetish wear at our parties over the week are:

Casual, formal and streetwear are not permitted at fetish-specified dress code events. We do not judge based on how expensive your outfit is, but as long as it expresses you and represents a fetish, that is acceptable.

Shoes must be worn at all times.

Anyone not in fetish attire where the dress code is specified will be asked to go to another venue.

No offensive or illegal messaging, slogans, or symbols on any items of clothing or accessories.

Noncompliance will result in being requested to change or leave.

Lube, shine and poppers

Lube and shine are not allowed to be taken into any of our venues.

We will provide free sachets of water-based lube in all our playrooms. Fisting lube will be available to make up in the venue if you bring a dry, empty container, which will be searched upon entry.

Shine will be available at big party events. Do not bring your own unless you have a place to store it outside of the venue as it will be confiscated.

Poppers are allowed into our venues (excluding Queer Lit) but must be sealed and unopened. Poppers are available for purchase at all our venues (excluding Queer Lit).
